John Frank "Johnnie" Smuk

Johnnie passed away peacefully on June 23, 2016 at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility at the age of 87, with family by his side. Johnnie was born on the family farm in the Easby School District. Johnnie married Annie Blaschuck on June 28, 1953. Together they raised 3 children, Chris, Mary & Mike. Johnnie worked for the CP Railway, Gus Bader & numerous jobs before he started farming in 1952; helping on the family farm even after retiring to Hodgeville in 2004. John is predeceased by his parents Anton & Katie, 13 brothers and sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends. Johnnie is survived by his beloved wife Annie, his children Chris (Dave), Mary (Ed), and Mike (Linda); grandsons Jeff, Alan, Shawn (Karen), and Cody; great-grandfather to Boone, Kinsey and Conner. Johnnie is also survived by his sister Josie (Harry) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Hwy 19, Hodgeville, SK, with Presiding Celebrant Father Guy Amédée Ainemon. Memorial donations to the Hebert & District Health Care Auxiliary, P.O. Box 554, Herbert SK, S0H 2A0 would be appreciated.
