Garden Bay, BC
Freda "Maxine" Bowden passed away at her home, in the town of Sechelt, British Columbia on June 26, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born in Long Beach, Ca. on March 3, 1931 to Roy and Betty Rhoads.
Maxine grew up in Porterville, Ca. where she graduated and was a homecoming queen at Porterville High School.
She married her husband Jack, on August 8, 1952, in a small Las Vegas chapel. Their 52 year long marriage ended when Jack passed on June 24, 2004.
Jack and Maxine had two sons, Kurt and Cliff. Both her boys were born in Redwood City, Ca. and the Bowdens lived around the Palo Alto area until 1967. Cliff also gave Maxine her only grandson, Cody.
In 1969, Jack and Maxine moved their family to Palo Cedro, Ca. In 1982, Jack and Maxine began retirement, spending time in Mexico and Canada. In 1987 they sold their bowling alley business and moved to Garden Bay, BC where Maxine spent hours in her garden and indulging herself in her favorite pastime, reading.
Maxine passed away just 23 days after her youngest son, Cliff. She is survived by Kurt and his wife Shannon of Lakehead, Ca., Cliff's son, Cody and his wife Kristen of Black Diamond, Wa., and her sister Paula of Madera, Ca., all of which will miss this amazing woman.
Private services were held at Pender Harbour where she now rests peacefully with her son and husband.
