Born on maternal grandparent’s farm, Melbourne, Yarmouth County Nova Scotia. Lived in Shelburne, Nova Scotia, graduated Acadia University, BSC 1954, and Graduated Dalhousie Medical School, MD, 1959. Practiced family medicine in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia. Practiced and taught family medicine for twenty years at Ottawa Civic Hospital, and University of Ottawa, 1990 returned to his home town of Shelburne Nova Scotia to practice Psychotherapy. Predeceased by mother, Olive Hope (Allen) Bruce, father Arthur Clarence Bruce, son Jeffrey Douglas Ward Bruce, nephew Richard Arthur Bruce. Survived by spouse of thirty years Anthony J. Caruso, son Robert Malcolm Bruce, daughter Kathryn Bruce Hunt, son in law James Hunt, grandsons Brian & Jeffrey Hunt, sisters Marjorie Sawosch, Toronto, Mary Upham, Truro, and brother Allen (Yvonne) Bruce, Dartmouth. Nieces Mercedes Sawosch, Mary Jane Crosby, Linda (Barry) Mooney, Heather (Russell) Lauther, Karen (Michael) Destun, Lorraine Patricia Brake, Joanne Elizabeth Bruce, Carole Yvonne McCarthy, stepson Trevor Anthony (Tricia Joanna Marie) Caruso, and step grandchildren Chalaine Elizabeth Marie, Victoria Ciel, and Xavier Alexander Caruso. Following cremation, Memorial service & reception at St. John’s Anglican Church Hall, Truro N.S., Sunday August 7, 2016 2 p.m. Burial Monday August 8th 11 a.m. at Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro, N.S.
