The family of beloved Rita Mullins, is in deep grief and sadness at her sudden passing while visiting in Oshawa, ON. Rita was the daughter, of the late Jean (Poirier) Donovan and George Donovan. Born in Glace Bay, Rita attended St. John’s school and St. Anne’s High.
She is survived by her son, Terrance (Brenda) Mullins, Glace Bay and Daughters, Darlene (Todd) Vanstone and Daneen Doucet, both of ON. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Travis, Trevor, Brianna, Tyler, Tara, Jeffory, Jordan, Tanner, Adam and Alanna and 5 great-grandchildren, whom all loved her dearly. Also surviving is her brother, Blaise (Sheila) Donovan; Sister, Ellen Donovan, Jean Marie Doherty, Trish (Tommy) MacDonald and brother-in-law, Bobby Barrett.
Left to mourn her are her many friends at the Kennedy Drive Complex.
Rita was a single mother of deep faith and great devotion to our blessed Mother Mary. She had great devotion to the rosary and recited it several times a day. She faithfully attended communion services every Sunday. Rita was a gentle forgiving soul full of compassion for the poor and sick.
She was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Marg Barrett, Mary Devison and her special granddaughter, Jeanine Danielle and niece Jean Danielle.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay with Father Norman MacPhee presiding.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Hub Club.
