It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas John Murphy (age 69), at the Victoria Hospice,Victoria, BC,on Saturday July 16, 2016, following a courageous battle with Cancer. Predeceased by his Parents: Leo and Elizabeth Murphy; his brother Leo Jr., his sisters, Betty and Joan, son-in-law Michael Harris and brother-in-law Jack Wensley. Leaving to mourn, his loving children Dana Harris and DJ Murphy; grandchildren Mathew and Mark Harris; Liam and Brooke Murphy. Brothers: Paddy (Pat), David, Gerald (Jeanette) Sisters: Margaret (Norm Chiasson), Mary (Bill Marshall), Faye (Earle Fremin), Sheila Wensley, as well as a large number of relatives and friends. A sincere Thank You is extended to Dr. Derek Saunders of Victoria, for his care and kindness to our father during his illness. We will always remember our Dad for his quick wit, sense of humor, and the many laughs he brought to us all. A Mass of Remembrance will be held on Friday,July 29, 2016 at 9:30 am at St. Patrick's Church, Patrick Street, St.John's. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place on Vancouver Island, B.C. at a date to be determined. In his memory donations can be made to Victoria Hospice (victoriahospice.org) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
