Passed away suddenly on July 18, 2016 at the age of 89 at his home in Halfmoon Bay.  He was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Pat) of 56 years in 2009. He will be deeply missed by his family, son Doug, son Dave (Nancy), daughter Marilyn, grandsons Ryan and Corey, brother-in-law Per, and many nieces and nephews.
When Bert retired from Canada Wire in Edmonton in 1984, he and Pat moved to the Sunshine Coast, where they renovated their cabin into their retirement home. Bert enjoyed many wonderful years there, where he enjoyed shuffle boarding with friends, attending Telus luncheons, playing bridge and, of course, his happy hour with Bob and Phyllis along with many wonderful gatherings with the neighbours in the bay including the annual Sleepy Hollow Rod Run.
Bert enjoyed spending many hours on his computer, whether it was keeping in touch with relatives and friends through Skype, making personalized cards, copying movies, or installing a new program. We will especially miss receiving our personalized birthday cards that he was famous for.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
