Barbara passed away on July 17, 2016 after living with cancer for many years. Born in 1939 in Glace Bay to the late Elvon and Elizabeth (Carmichael) Wilton.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon; son, Brian (Suzanne), Woodstock N.B; sister, Betty Ann Sanford, Annapolis Royal; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Johnstone; daughter-in-law, Stacey Johnstone; grandchildren, Cassie and Jillian, Bradley and Alex; many cousins and nieces. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, Kevin in 2013 and brother-in-law, Robert Sanford.
Barbara began her career as secretary at Morrison Glace Bay High School before continuing her work for the Dartmouth District School Board.
A memorial service was held Friday, July 22, 2016 in the Mattatall’s Funeral Home chapel, Dartmouth N.S. Interment under the direction of Patton’s Funeral Home will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Grand Lake Road, Sydney N.S. Graveside service officiated by Rev. Robert Stevens.
