MORSE, Charles Vernon “Charlie” – age 92 of Middleton, NS passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton, sadly so soon after his beloved wife, Carol. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, that of the late Vernon and Ethel (Magee) Morse. Charles graduated from Kingston High School, Kings County. He removed to Halifax upon acceptance to Maritime Business College and Dalhousie University where he obtained a degree in Public Accounting (C.P.A.). Charles was employed with Department of National Revenue, Special Investigations Branch, Halifax. He retired after 46 years of public service. Following retirement he operated Midvalley Motel while his health remained. He was a supportive and participating member along with Carol of St. John’s United Church for over 28 years. Charlie was a member of the Middleton Curling Club. He absolutely enjoyed the sport and comradery of curling. Charlie loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, picking berries and treasured any time he got to spend in East Dalhousie at the “Camp” with close family and great friends. He loved playing bridge, crib and 45’s. He loved winning, as losing was not an option! Charlie and Carol enjoyed their hobbies of attending auctions and yard sales, rug hooking and refurbishing furniture while their health permitted. Charles is survived by daughter Linda (Reginald) Verge, Halifax; son Charles David Morse, Greenwood; grandchildren Nicholas (Rachel), Jessica, Kyle, great grandchild Ethan, many nieces, nephews, sister in law Ferna Morse and brothers in law Keith and Lloyd Allen. He was predeceased by brothers Alvah, Holmes and Donald. Charles’ family wish to thank the many Home Care Supports as well as the staff of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Doctor Saxon and colleagues, the Palliative Care nursing staff for their many acts of kindness . The family would especially like to thank Dr. Paul MacLean, Dad’s family physician, for his professional care and support he provided for many years. In keeping with Charles’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 9th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448, Rev. Gary Manthorne officiated with a reception following the service. Interment in the North Kingston Cemetery. By request, family flowers only.
