BERT CAMPBELL

BERT CAMPBELL BERT CAMPBELL

February 28, 1919 - August 3, 2016
Our much-loved Grandpa Bert passed away peacefully in his home at Christenson Village.
Bert was born in Edrens, MB to William and Edith Campbell (Siemens) the fourth of nine children.
He had always planned to take up farming but the war years opened his eyes to other possibilities. His posting to the army in New Westminster introduced him to coastal living. He liked it.
After the war he married Betty Watson and they spent their married life in Qualicum Beach until her death in 1979.
Bert was active in the Qualicum Beach Legion and served as president. He also served on the board of the local credit union. He owned a plumbing and heating business.
At the age of 70 he moved to Sorrento with his son Gordon and family. He remained with them for 23 years and spent the last 12 years here on the Sunshine Coast.
He enjoyed camping and gardening but his favourite hobby was fishing.
He loved the chaos and laughter at family gatherings and especially the company of small children.
He was predeceased by his son Dennis in 1957 and his wife Betty (Elizabeth) in 1979. He is survived by his sisters Marion Curle (Jiggs) and Edna Smith, son Gordon (Cary), grandchildren Gordon (Karen) Erin, and Matthew (Virginia) and great-grandchildren Naomi, Seth, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Samuel and Calla as well as many nieces and nephews.
Our special thanks to his good friend Carol and the wonderful staff at Christenson Village. Your love and care were always there.
A celebration of Bert's life was held at Gordon and Cary's home on August 7, 2016.
