JOAN ELIZABETH BROWN

JOAN ELIZABETH BROWN JOAN ELIZABETH BROWN

February 18, 1929 – August 10, 2016
Joan was a vivacious individual with an infectious laugh and a zest for life. Joan will be very much missed, but we know she is having a wonderful time re-uniting with loved ones in paradise.
Born in England, Joan was out doing a newspaper route at the age of nine and continued delivery during the Blitz. Although she wanted to continue her education at college, her family needed her; so she worked full-time from the age of 14 to assist her parents and younger siblings financially.
She always gave to others and was a loving wife to her dear husband Donald (predeceased 2008) and a devoted mother to her beloved children, Ian (Jessica) and Kim (Glenn). Joan was also incredibly proud of her grandchildren Cory, Kelly, Ryan, Evan and great grandchildren Greyson and Carlie.
Joan thoroughly enjoyed her career, particularly as a school secretary and serving on the School Board in the communities of Maple Ridge, Vancouver Island, Okanagan, and Coquitlam.
She was also a “triple threat” who performed in choir, dance, and amateur theatre. Joan also enjoyed lawn bowling, people that liked to share a laugh, and she simply adored her pets.
Many thanks to all who loved her and for the heartfelt care that she received from the staff at Christenson Village. You were her extended “family”.
A celebration of life will be held for Joan at a later date.
“We will miss you, a tiny new angel forever in our hearts."
