Leslie Maxwell Noel
Passed on: August 16th, 2016
It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Leslie Maxwell Noel in his 91st year on the early morning of August 16, 2016. The son of the late George and Gertrude Noel, Dad grew up in Freshwater, Carbonear, and ventured into St. John's in his late teens where he resided for most of his life (with the exception of four years that were spent in Labrador City). Predeceased by first wife Alice Marie Kirby (1998); brothers: Roy and his wife Floss, Ted and wife Mable; sister Ina; sister-in-law Dot, and brother-in-law Jim Fitzpatrick. Also two brothers-in-law from his first marriage: Fred and wife Vera, and Ray. Leaving to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his wife Lillian Froude; his loving and devoted daughter Sandra; his beloved son Fraser and his wife Paula (Victoria BC); brothers: Joe (Emma), Pat (Betty), Gib (Gillian); sister Thelma; sister-in-law Melvine Hutchings; as well as many nieces and nephews from the Noel clan, and Kirby family. Missing him also will be a circle of friends, especially The Reverend Bill Coish and his wife Daphne, who have maintained a close friendship and were a great comfort in his later days. Les and Family were blessed with amazing neighbors: Cathy Murphy and family, and Ian and Donna Kelly and family. Both families were always there for support and to lend a helping hand. Dad had a lifelong love for music, especially singing. He was a dedicated and proud member of the George Street United Church Senior Choir since 1945, and also a member of their Men's Choir. His passion for singing was evident just two days prior to his passing when he sang his favorite song, "By Cool Siloam's Shady Rill", to four members of the choir who had came to visit. Dad had a great love for his garden. He took pleasure in tending to it, which gave him great satisfaction and comfort. Special thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Miller Centre for their care and compassion. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. on Sunday, August 21, from 3-7 pm. Funeral Service will be held at George Street United Church on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 2 pm, with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. As per Dad's wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to George Street United Church, or the Renata Withers Centre for Hope. As per Dad's request please wear bright colors to the Funeral and Visitation. To view the online memorial guest book or leave a message of condolence, please visit www.barretts.ca.
