Roney Allen William – 66 of Port Royal, Annapolis County, passed away August 17, 2016, in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, with his loving wife Sheila and sister, Lois Bent by his side. Born in Annapolis Royal, he was a son of Lillian (Zinck) Roney, Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown and the late Ewin Roney. Allen is survived by his wife Sheila (Clayton); sons Michael, Port Royal and Christopher, Kentville, and especially proud of his only granddaughter Lexie Roney, brother, Franklyn Roney and sister, Lois Bent, Bridgetown. He was predeceased by sister-in-law, Kimberley Clayton; brother-in-law, Winford Bent and father-in-law, Ivan Clayton. Allen’s hands were always busy. He was a plumber in Halifax and CFB Cornwallis, served a term on Annapolis County Council, was a woodsman and carpenter, had a taxi service, and for 14 years Allen and Sheila ran the Surf and Turf Restaurant and Lounge. He coached little league ball and together with other community members built the Hollow Mountain Road park, which was enjoyed by many families for several years. Each year he would plant a vegetable garden with the help from granddaughter Lexie, sharing his harvest with many friends and neighbors. In keeping with Allen’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. There was no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. If so desired donations can be sent to Cancer Research, Halifax or Annapolis Community Heath Centre, Annapolis Royal. The family would like to thank all the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at Annapolis Royal Community Health Centre, Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, Yarmouth Hospital, Victorian Order of Nurses and Palliative Care.
