Frank Zacharias
Passed on: September 15th, 2016
Frank L. Zacharias, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 10:37 pm at the Palliser Regional Care Centre, Swift Current, SK with his family at his side. Frank spent the first 87 years of his life on the family farm. In October 2011, he moved to Swift Current with his wife, Susan, who lovingly took care of him until May 2016. He was transferred to the Palliser Regional Care Centre until his passing. Frank was born on September 22, 1924 to Abram & Margaret Zacharias on the family farm at McMahon, SK. Frank attended Falkland School in McMahon, SK. His school days were interrupted many times by helping out on the farm. Frank married Susan (Ens) of Blumenhof, SK on August 7, 1960 at the Wymark EMC Church in Chortitz, SK. They raised their family on the farm. Frank was a lifelong farmer who worked hard and took pride in teaching his children how to work — from a young age they learned how to drive a tractor, haul grain, and help out on the farm. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. God was his first priority in life, followed by family and farm. He loved spending time with family and friends over ‘faspa.’ Frank’s favourite hymns were “One Day at A Time”, “Supper Time”, and the “Doxology”. He enjoyed working with horses — not only were they a part of the farm work, but also for pleasure. He would sit down with the kids or grandkids many times and draw them a horse. The only sport he talked about, that he really enjoyed, was boxing. He knew many of the boxer’s names and listened to matches on the radio. Frank leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 56 years, Susan; his family, Sandi (Mike) Carr, Swift Current, SK, their children, Ryan (Kelsey) Wiebe Swift Current, SK – Payton, Ashlynn Wiebe: Byron (Susie) Wiebe, Seville, Spain: Kelly Wiebe, Regina, SK; Freda (Arnold) Rempel, Rhineland, SK, their children, Kimberly (Yommer Charalla Alcca) Rempel, Saskatoon, SK/Cusco, Peru: Josh (Steph) Rempel, Rhineland, SK – Sawyer and Gus Rempel: Jesse (Toni ) Rempel, Hanley, SK – Kamryn and Emrie Rempel: Joel Rempel, Rhineland, SK; Dennis (Anita) Zacharias, McMahon, SK, their children, Tanis (Devin) Martens, Swift Current, SK – Aubrey, Jett, and Emmy Martens: Alyssa (Nathan) Wiebe, Swift Current, SK – Theo Wiebe: Darby (Beth) Zacharias, McMahon, SK; Connie (Tim) Zacharias-Morris, Regina, SK, their children, Jasmine (Chris) Lane, Regina, SK: Jordan (Jenn) Lane, Regina, SK: Colten, Carson, and Riley Morris, Regina, SK: Amy (DJ) Morris, Regina, SK – Caleb Morris; Verna (Greg) Heuer, McMahon, SK, their son, Sidney Heuer, McMahon, SK; and Sheila (Jim) Wiebe, Langham, SK, their children, Shyla (Geoff) Daoust, Saskatoon, SK: Taylor Wiebe, Caronport, SK: and Kelsey Wiebe, Langham, SK.
