David Allan Simms, passed peacefully away on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at the Queen’s Park Care Home, New Westminster, BC surrounded by his family and friends. He was a husband of 61 years to the love of his life Shirley (Lane) Simms. David was born in Badger, Newfoundland on April 28, 1936, son of the late Waldo and Annie (Hayden) Simms. David had worked 35 years for Eastern Provincial Airways mainly in Gander, NL (which he often proudly credited as the turning point to a better life for his family), later in Nova Scotia retiring from Air Canada in Vancouver, BC. David a noted singer, and the life of a party, had lived most of his life in Gambo, NL where he was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He spent his later years in New Westminster, BC following his two favorite sports teams, the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Blue Jays. He will be missed by his wife Shirley, his children, a large extended family and friends. Interment will take place 11:00am, Sept 30th, in the chapel courtyard at Ocean View Burial Park, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC and will be followed by a Celebration of Life at 100-1185 Quayside Dr, New Westminster, BC.
