Sharon Rose Coates, age 73 of White Rock, British Columbia passed away on September 19, 2016. Born May 2nd, 1943 in Amherst, Nova Scotia to Haley Coates and Ethel Coates. Sharon attended the School of Nursing in Saint John and worked as an RN for many years. She took on many senior roles within the administration at Surrey Memorial Hospital until she retired as the Director of Human Resources.
Passionate about family, she loved spending time with her two sons, James and Joel, and her beloved grandchildren - June, Wyatt, Gavin, Jared, Holly, and Curtis and her daughters-in-law Allie and Tracy. Sharon had a large extended family and roots in the East Coast of Canada where she often visited family and friends.
Sharon travelled extensively and was an active member of the Rotary Club for many years, where she made lifelong friends while serving her community. She was also passionate about helping young children in third world countries and supported them through charitable organizations. Her sense of humour and great wit will be missed.
Sharon was a faithful and active member of the United Church in White Rock, BC, whose members were of great comfort to her throughout her illness.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ron Coates and her sister Hala Halderman.
She is survived by her sister Carol Morrisey and her husband Bill, her brother Ernie and wife Linda Coates, her brother-in-law Glen Halderman, her sisters Madelyn Comeau and Erma Dyas.
A funeral will be held at the First United Church in White Rock September 30, 2016.
