Passed peacefully away at The Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre on Friday, September 30, 2016, John D. Ellis age 77 years. Predeceased by his parents: James and Christina Ellis. Leaving to mourn with fond memories his loving wife of 53 years Barbara (nee Murdoch); his children: Lynn Drake (Craig), Neil Ellis, Susan St. Croix (Frank) and Fiona Ellis (Bernie Manning); grandchildren: Alyssa Drake, Andrew, Steeley, and Kiersen Ellis, Tiffany Rees, Samantha, Matthew, Luke and Ashley St. Croix, Finley and Oliver Manning; great grandchild Liam; sister Catherine Irvine; brother-in-law Ian Murdoch (Geraldine); sisters-in-law: Janet Hayward and Gail Arnold (Doug); also nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. John was a founding member of the St. John's Pipe Band. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and then on Sunday from 2-4pm. Funeral service to be held from St. David's Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth Avenue on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to be held at a later date. No flowers by request.
