Hoyles, Peter Lewis, (July 29, 1939 – October 6, 2016)

With a spring in his step and a smile on his face, Peter Hoyles (age 77) of Gander left this world on October 6, 2016. Pete was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Powell) Hoyles, in 2003. Left behind to carry on a fine tradition of laughter, love of family, enjoyment of the outdoors and fine food are his loving partner of seven years, Maggie Ivany, his sister Pearl Yetman (Mike) and his four children, Andrea ( Dana), Chris (Traci), Cathy (Peter) and Susan (Paul). Pete’s grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life and “Dad Pete” was special to them; Jennifer, Aaron, Lucas, Matthew and Nell had a grandfather to remember. Miles and Henry had a great-grandfather who was a child at heart. He will also be missed by cousins, nieces and nephews and kindly regarded family on the Powell side. Pete was an original resident of Gander and took great pride in the town’s history as the “Crossroads of the World. Loving boats, planes and cars, Pete was an explorer - happiest on the move with the sun on his face and the breeze in his hair. Visitation has taken place at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Sunday, October 9th from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M.- 9:00 P.M. Funeral service was held on Monday, October 10th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from the Fraser Road United Church. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Pete loved animals, and they loved him, thus in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Gander SPCA in Pete’s memory would be appreciated.
