It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of Arthur John Vaughn Lockerbie at Harbour View Facility on October 8, 2016. Born in Kouchibouquac, NB on May 8, 1921, he was the son of the late James and Florence (Tweedie) Lockerbie. He was in the Merchant Navy during WWII and worked as a radio operator at the Sydney Airport until his retirement in 1986. He was also a member of Branch 12 Legion for many years. Art had a thirst for knowledge and loved to tell stories.
Sparks is survived by sons, Bill (Patricia Romeo) of Boisdale, Terry (Marie) of Springville and Dave (Joan Latimer) of Mira, as well as daughter, Cathy (Bryan Forrester) of Kingston; grand-children, Chris, James, Peter, Amanda, Lori, Vanessa, Connor and Brayden; great grand-children, Sawyer and Vander and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Meta (Hooper); brother, Victor and grandson, Kevin Hillman. Visitation will be at Sydney Memorial Chapel Wednesday, October 12 from 7-9 p.m., funeral at Bethel Presbyterian Church Thurs, October 13 at 11 a.m. Donations can be made to Harbour View Facility and a special thank you goes to the staff for their lovely care.
