It is with great sadness that we the family of the late Arthur “Art” Spencer, announce his passing on October 12, 2016, at the Glace Bay Healthcare Center. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late George and Sarah “Sadie” (Ferguson) Spencer. Art greatly enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was gardening, fishing or spending time at his bungalow. He also enjoyed going for walks with his wife Heather. Art had a varied work background, starting as a stationary engineer in the mines, and then ending as an Electrolux salesman. Art is survived by his wife, Heather Matheson – Spencer; his son, Art (Cathy) Spencer and grandchildren, Liam, Colin, Neil, Anna, also sister Jean (George) Crowell and Brother, Robert (Joan) Spencer. Besides his parents, Art is predeceased by his first wife, Ann (MacNeil) Spencer, also Sister, Wilma Bailey.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Oct 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Nancy Whitney – Latham DLM officiating.
