Charlotte, NC - H. Keith Bardsley, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 9th, 2016. Keith was born to Donella Isabel Buchanan and James Edmund Capstick on August 29, 1944 in East Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia by his adoptive parents Henry Allen and Alice MacKay Bardsley. Following his lifelong dream to live in a climate where cars are rust free, Keith immigrated to the United States in 1978. He worked as an architect for MBAJ and HSMM before retiring from Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools in 2013. In addition to traveling with his wife, his many interests included cars, boats, painting, and his much-loved Old English Mastiffs, Digby and Pictsie. Keith is survived by his wife, Vicki Saville Bardsley; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Toni Moore and son, David of Charlotte; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Ashley Bardsley of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Moore and Cole and Ruby Rose Bardsley; half-brothers, Thomas James Capstick of Dingwall, Cape Breton and Ron Matheson of Sydney, Nova Scotia; and half-sisters, Lynda Matheson Monroe, also of Sydney, Imelda Dowling of Halifax and Shirley Smith and Kathy Fricker of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
A service in celebration of Keith's life will be held at Harry & Bryant's "Chapel in the Oaks", 500 Providence Road, Charlotte on Friday, October 21, 2016 at noon. Visitation will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. A reception will be held at the Duke Mansion following the service.
In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Keith, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte or the Carolina Mastiff Rescue.
