
ROSEMARY POWELL (nee Beer)
June 9, 1938 - October 10, 2016
Born in Bideford North Devon England, to the late Frederick and Muriel Violet Beer (nee Lloyd) on June 9, 1938. Graduated from high school in Bideford; emigrated to Canada on the Empress of Britain at the age of 19 and arrived in Quebec City on July 11,1958 and took the train to Toronto to stay with her great- aunt Nell.
She married her fiancé Terry Powell at St. Barnabas Church on Danforth Avenue, Toronto on the 30th of August 1958. She then followed her husband to many locations In Canada as a military wife: St. Hubert, PQ; Uplands Ottawa, Comox BC. During this time Rosemary gave birth to four children: Stephen (Linda), Terri- Lynn ( Mark), Tracey (Scott) and Christopher (Kathryn). This resulted in seven grandchildren: Matthew (Tara), David (Julianne), Kyle, Adam, Devon, Ethan and Mia. She also accompanied her husband twice to Germany, five years on both occasions. Her last military move was to Kingston Ontario. As they had enjoyed their time in British Columbia and after visiting friends there, decided to settle down in Sechelt. Then came two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Maxwell and another expected in the very near future.
Rosemary was much loved by all her family. She leaves behind husband Terry, her children, grandchildren and great-grand children to remember her.
A celebration of life was held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 140 on October 18, 2016.
