Wesley Thomas Hillyard, age 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, Nova Scotia. Born on June 14, 1941 in Green Bay, Labrador he was the son of the late John and Lillian (Layden) Hillyard. He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 49 years Maggie (Noseworthy) Hillyard; son Aubrey (Amy); granddaughters, Lillian and Ellen; daughter, Amber; granddaughters, Tori, Tenesha and Tiffany; brothers, Benjamin (Joyce), Chesley (Annie), and Wallace (Holly); sisters, Olive, Dora (Cecil), Meta (Stewart), Hilda (Ronald); many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Henry and two infant daughters Tammy and Connie. Wesley lived most of his life in Red Bay, Labrador until two years ago when he moved to be closer to his son Aubrey and family in Nova Scotia. He loved hunting, fishing, berry picking, storytelling, playing cards and spending time at his cabin. He was a hardworking man and made his living at sea until he retired from The Northern Osprey. He was well loved by his family, many friends and anyone who came in contact with him. He had a heart of gold and was generous to all and made sure everyone else was taken care of before himself. His heart was filled with love for his family and friends. He is free from all pain and suffering now. Rest in peace husband, dad, brother, uncle, pop. Cremation has taken place. A family memorial service was held with his wife in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital chapel with Father Doug Chard officiating on Friday October 28th. Funeral and interment will be on June 30th, 2017 at Red Bay United Church. The family would like to thank relatives and friends for their prayers and kind words of comfort.
