Ethel Burnett Hingley (Singer) - 97, Truro, passed away peacefully with family at her side in the morning hours of October 28, 2016 in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Ethel was a hardworking, loving and compassionate woman with a sharp mind and quick wit. She loved her family with all of her heart and was their “rock.” She made friends easily wherever she went and treasured them all. Thank you to all who provided care to Ethel over the past several months. We appreciate all that you did to lift her spirits and keep her comfortable. She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Earl; daughters, Earleen (Terry) Leier, Truro, Janet (Mark) MacKenzie, Murray Siding, Carole McClelland (John Spears); son, David Hingley, Halifax; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Ethel was predeceased by four sisters; one brother; one great granddaughter; one son in law as well as several brothers and sisters in law. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service in thanksgiving for Ethel's life will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11am in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Iain Macdonald, officiating. Reception will follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place in Camden Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations celebrating Ethel's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.
