Tammy Seymour

Passed on: October 28th, 2016

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Tammy Rosalie Seymour, on Friday October 28, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Sarah (Wells) Powell. Tammy was a member of St. Albans Church, Whitney Pier. She worked with Canadian Blood Services for many years as well as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the convent and the Regional Hospital. She is survived by her partner, Paul Andrews; daughter, Sara Deveaux, Sydney; step-daughter, Tammy (Dwayne) Seymour-Flear, Bras d’Or; son, Zachary (Brianna) Deveaux, Sydney; brothers, Kenny and Tommy Powell, both of Sydney; grandsons, Nathan and Benjamin and nieces, Casandra and Glenda Powell. Tammy was a vibrant and energetic soul who was always cheerful and smiling. She spent her life caring for others with such great care and compassion and touched the hearts and lives of so many. She had always loved spending time at the bungalow in Gillis Lake with family, and friends who were so close they were more like family. Over the years she was a member of many bowling leagues and dart leagues; the same place where she first met her loving partner Paul.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of the Cancer Center, Palliative Care, VON, 3A staff and all the nurses and doctors at the hospital and close friends who took exceptional care of her while she was ill. We would like to specifically acknowledge Dr. John Jensen and Dr. Saneea Abboud for going above and beyond for her.
Visitation will take place Tuesday November 1, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Albans Church, Whitney Pier, with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care, or the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Words of comfort can be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
