Stan Inkpen

Passed on: October 30th, 2016

Passed away peacefully on October 30, 2016, surrounded by his adoring family. He died as he had lived, with grace, dignity and a loving heart. He leaves behind his life long love Corinne; his three children Susan (Colin) Simms, Steve (Kathy) and Janine; his nine grandchildren Stephanie, Daniel, Jesse, Andrew, Lane, Hayley, Chelsea, Brittany and Alannah; and his three great-grandchildren Benjamin, Bailey and Anna; as well as his brother David of Halifax. Stan moved to Newfoundland from Nova Scotia in 1951 to open an office for H.R. Doane where he spent his career. He loved his work as a chartered accountant as well as his professional associations with the Waterford Hospital Board, the Kiwanis Club, Board of Trade and Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. However, what he truly loved about his work was the life long friendships that he made and enjoyed until the end. An avid reader of the daily newspaper, dad was an authority on politics, current events and the comic strip. He cherished his time spent with family at the country place on Nine Island Pond. Dad remained interested in sports, card games, family gatherings and had a genuine love for life until the end. An exceptionally kind and selfless man who took an interest in others, he always looked on the positive side of life. We are all incredibly thankful we had him in our lives for 91 years, and we will forever have him in our hearts. Visitation will take place at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, November 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, November 2 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CNIB. To send a message of condolence or to sign the memorial guest book please visit www.carnells.com.
