John Leroy Francis, 70, of Paqtnkek Mi'kmaq Nation passed away on October 22, 2016, at home. Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Maurice and Mary Ellen (Prosper) Francis. John worked in Boston for most of his life as a painter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling. He played guitar and enjoyed playing hockey and softball. He is survived by his son, John Wesley Poulette, Eskasoni; sister, Patricia (Tom) Coupland, Hamilton, ON and half-brother, David Knockwood, Pictou Landing.
Predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Thomas. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held in Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton, on Friday, November 4th, at 11 a.m with Reverend Gary MacPherson presiding. Burial in St. Ann's Cemetery, Summerside Road.
