Jack Miller

Jack Miller passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2016 at home in Kyle, SK. Jack was born to Thomas and Mary Miller on December 22, 1932 on the Miller homestead in the Kyle District. At the young age of 15, Jack left home to work at a logging camp near Grande Prairie, AB for a couple winters. Jack went to the Maple Creek area and worked at 3 different ranches over the year. When he can back to Kyle, Jack worked at the Matador, worked at the RM's of Lacadena and Abbey, and worked for a few different farmers. On August 9, 1957, Jack married Marie Marshall at the Kyle United Church. They were blessed with 3 children-Denise, Shane and Terri. From 1961 to 2012, they farmed in the White Bear area and raised their 3 children. Having his family at home, especially for the holidays, was something Jack looked forward to. Family and friends were so important to Jack. Jack served on the Kyle United Church board, was part of the Elks club and recently joined the Legion. Each year Jack flipped burgers in the hot food booth at the White Bear Sports day, took shifts at the kitchen in the White Bear rink and worked at events in Kyle with the Elks. Attending rodeos was one of Jack's favorite things to do. This past year he and Marie attended 5 rodeos, with the last one in October. In 2012, Jack and Marie sold the farm and moved to Kyle where they have enjoyed these last 4 years. Jack was predeceased by his father, Thomas, his mother, Mary, sister, Margaret Jacobson, brothers, Stephen (better known as Ticky), George and Elwood, his nephew, Asa Miller and his grand-nephew, Blair Marchand. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marie, children-Denise (Dennis) Tourand, Shane (Janice) Miller, and Terri (Blair) Foster, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his sister, Audrey Walker and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at the Kyle United Church on November 4, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Jim MacNaughten officiating. Interment followed at the Clearwater Cemetery with refreshments at the Kyle Elks and Community Hall. Donations in memory of Jack may be made to The Kyle United Church (Memorial Fund) P.O.
