It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the sudden passing of John Joseph MacDougall, 70, on Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Ingonish on July 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Tim and Elizabeth (Donovan) MacDougall. He was the oldest boy of 15 children. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife Rowena, as well as his children and grandchildren. He was loved by all who knew him, humans and animals alike. He was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and loved seeing them do better than Montreal. John is survived by his loving wife, Rowena; his daughters, June (Eric) and Charlene (Walter), as well as his son, Chris (Lovella); four step-children, Elaine (Chris), Selena, Billy and Gordon, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Martin (Bernice), Mark (Heather), Donald (Linda), Nick (Nina) and Dale (Nancy) and sisters, Ann (Vince), Joan (Herman), Louise (Peter), Judy (Thomas), Natalie (David), Laura and Crystal. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael and sister, Lorraine. The family will receive visitors Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Ingonish. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. with Fr. Lazarus Guria officiating. The burial will be in the parish cemetery.
