Dennis James Hoisington, 69, passed away on November 3, 2016 at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, SK. He was born in Gull Lake, SK on July 29, 1947 to George and Cathy Hoisington and raised on his parent's farm in the Simmie area. He attended school at Early, Shaunavon and Swift Current. Dennis stayed and worked the farm with his dad after graduating before venturing to Calgary to work construction. He returned home, to where his heart was, and began farming once again. In 1969 he married Myrna Peterson and they purchased land in the Simmie area where they resided until his passing. In 1971 Verdean was born, followed by Shayla in 1973 and Craig in 1975. He loved farming, riding horse, raising pigs, cows, and working in his fields. He loved raising his kids and later enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchild. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, travelling and spending time at the cabin with family and friends. Dennis was active in sports and played hockey with The Simmie Spurs for many years. He was an active member of the community, residing on the Simmie Rec Board, Minor Hockey, Kinsmen Club and took part in various activities in the community. Dennis was a loving husband, father and friend to his wife, Myrna, Verdean ,Shayla, and Craig (Kristy) as well as his brother and close friend Calvin (Cheryl) and little sister Heather Chainey. He had 10 grandchildren: Alysha (Tanner), Kyla, Taliya, Madison, Karson, Rylan, Laci, Singer, Reino and Easton, and 1 great grandchild Tylee. Numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and of course many close friends. Dennis was predeceased by his parents George and Cathy Hoisington; brother Brian; in-laws, Chester and Evelyn Peterson, and brother-in-law's, Lorrel Peterson and Ken Blyth. The memorial service was held Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm from First United Church, Swift Current, SK. with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The interment service took place at Trinity Cemetery in the Simmie District. In Denny's memory, memorial donation may be made to The Simmie Rec Board or the Dr. Noble Irwin Health Care Foundation.
