Died peacefully at the Health Sciences Complex on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, in the presence of her loving family after a long but courageous battles with cancer, Edna Lorraine Mercer, age 75 years. A graduate from the General Hospital in 1971, Lorraine loved and excelled in her career with her primary focus being Psychiatry and Geriatrics throughout her 42 years of Nursing. Predeceased by her parents, Ira and Jane Parsons. Leaving to celebrate her life her husband of 56 years, Douglas H. Mercer; her beloved children: Wendy Martin (Gord), Ian (Kim) and Jeannie (Joe); cherished grandchildren: Alysha, Simon, Jacob, Heidi, Evan, Kiera, Anna and Eli; and her precious only great-grandson, Cailen; siblings: Jean Whalen (Jack) (St. John's), Jake Parsons (Yellowknife), Christine Oates (Max)(Moncton), Jeanette Layden (Albert, deceased)(Harbour Grace), Father Garry Parsons (St. John's); siblings-in-law: David Mercer (Judy) (Grand Falls), Donald Mercer (Manitoba) and Chorine Mercer (Ontario); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends - too numerous to mention, but each very special to Lorraine. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Thursday, November 17, from 2pm-9pm. Funeral service will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00am. Interment will take place at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
