Mary Loretta Whaling, age 71, of 288 Douglas Street, Stratford, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by family. Born in Little Bay, Newfoundland, daughter of the late Leo and Gertrude (Walsh) Power. Beloved wife of the late Eugene Whaling (January 2014). Predeceased by her two daughters Shelley McKichan and Sharon Shamblaw. Very proud grandmother of Courtney (Jayson) and Cameron McKichan and their father Michael McKichan and Amanda (Mike), Brandon (Samantha) and Morgan Shamblaw and their father Larry Shamblaw. Survived by her siblings Joan Mezenburg (Gerry), Leo Power (Lucia), Ernie Power (Loretta) and Edna Brake. Mary was a faithful member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a very active member of the Catholic Women’s League. Besides her parents and two daughters, Mary was predeceased by her father and mother in-law James and Iva Whaling, sister Cecila Murphy, brother Moses Power and brother-in-law Garry Brake. The Mass of Christian burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Church, 50 Well Street, Stratford on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers and as expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church Restoration Fund through the funeral home.
