PENNEY, Florene Emma – 74, South Side, passed away December 2, 2016, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born August 26, 1942 at The Hawk she was a daughter of the late Murray and Alice (Townsend) Maxwell. Florene greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much. She also really enjoyed a good pot of tea. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her children, Crystal (Neil) Newell, Sherry (Joey) Simpson, Larry (Tanya) Penney, June (Wendy) Penney; siblings, Daniel (Esther) Maxwell, Winnifred Atkinson, Isabelle (Clair) Nickerson, Bernice (Bradford) Penney, Lynda Nickerson; grandchildren, Ryan, Alicia, Matthew, Nicholas, Zachary, Titus, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Abbigail, Alexis, Emry, Addyson, and Brooklyn. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Norman Penney; siblings, Regina Nickerson, Enid Turner, and Mona Atkinson. There was a visitation held Monday, 7-9 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service was held, Tuesday December 6, at 2 p.m. in the Independent Baptist Church, Clark’s Harbour, with Pastor Ron Clark officiating. Interment followed in the White Lily Cemetery, South Side. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Roaslin Nickerson Care Fund. The family would like to thank the entire VON for their services and also the nursing staff of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for their care in her last days.
