He was one of the first members of the Kinsmen Club in Swift Current and served in various offices including President and Past President. He was also a driving force behind the first Kinsmen Telemiracle and later was named a lifetime member of the Kinsmen and K-40. He then became involved with the Masonic Lodge and Shrine Temple in the community. During the following year, he joined the Royal Arch with the Wa Wa Shrine. He traveled to various areas with the band, such as a trip to the smaller communities for parades and even Regina, Medicine Hat and Vancouver. He also traveled with the Shrine Band from Moose Jaw on occasion. Your may have seem him marching in a parade, last row right outside corner as they march forward. In later years, the Boys got a trailer that they are using to this day. Dick was also an avid sports fan and cheered of the underdog for many years. He enjoyed watching the Rough Riders and the Oakland Raiders. Saturday nights, the T.V. would be on for Hockey Night In Canada and he would enjoy watching the games and also followed the Bronco's for many years as well. He also enjoyed family trips and camping in younger years and any special family occasion with his children and grandchild which were enjoyed with laughter and good food. He was a devoted husband and remained a devoted loving father to all his children, he was also a very hard working and dedicated man in the funeral industry and his community. He will be sorely missed. "Good On Ya Dad."
