In loving memory of Catherine Winifred Kane, 87, of Sydney N.S., who passed away in Sydney on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, she was a beloved daughter of the late Robert and Jane McLaren. Following her marriage in 1954, Catherine immigrated to Canada, settling in Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario before finally making her home in Cape Breton in 2005. For the last two years her home was at the Cove Guest Home where she was lovingly cared for by an incredible staff who made those last year’s very special to her. We will always be grateful. Catherine was a loving, kind and gentle soul who was very devoted to her family and friends. She faced many challenges in life with great courage. She will be missed and will remain forever in our hearts.
She was predeceased by brothers, Robert and George.
Catherine is survived by son, Robert; daughter, Marlene; grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Virginia, Tessa and Nikolas; sisters, Maisie and Ella; brother, John and her many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Chants Funeral Home on Friday, December 16th, at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, Catherine would want us to please donate to a charity of your choice.
