Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Health Sciences Centre, age 49 years. Predeceased by his father Gerald and grandparents Nan and Pop Rose. Left with fond and loving memories his mother Shirley Newell (Rose); his wife, best friend and soulmate Karen Newell (Martin); son Dillon Newell (Sydney); stepdaughters Natasha Hanlon (Garrett) and Nichole Hanlon (Chad); brother and best friend Craig (Amanda) Newell; amazing nephew James (Kailee); father and mother-in-law Frank and Margaret Martin; sisters-in-law Deborah (Steve) Martin, Maxine Clarke, Elaine (Rick) Janes; brother-in- law Frank Martin Jr.; nephews Ryan Janes, special nephew and his little buddy Andrew Janes; his best friends and brothers for life Bernard (Cathy) Ivany, Paul (Sonya) Warren, special friends Ross and Lorraine Pickett; his special four legged buddy Oscar, as well as a large circle of family, friends, and all his cabin and bike buddies. Special thank you to Dr. Dawn Armstrong, Dr. Seal, Dr. Thomas and all oncologist and pharmacy staff at the cancer clinic and nurses on 4 South B, especially Lindsey (R.N.) and Kailee (R.N.) for their compassion and comfort. Cremation has taken place. Visitation from Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Church of the Ascension, Smallwood Drive, Mount Pearl, inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
