Shirley Althea Mahar
MAHAR, Shirley Althea – 76, Bible Hill, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016, at home. Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late David and Bertha (Woodlock) McNutt. Shirley worked at Kaleidescope Clothing for many years and was a Regal representative for almost 50 years. A proud “East Court Roader”, she loved reminiscing with family and friends about the years she lived there. She was a member of TOPS, Bible Hill, enjoyed summer trips with “the girls” and was happiest when socializing and interacting with her many friends and even those she didn’t know. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Denyse (John) Stronge, Salmon River; son, Dennis Mahar (Betty Yorke), East Mountain; grandchildren, Nadine Mahar, Tyler Stronge (Sam Cameron), Jessica Stronge, Tamara Stronge; great grandchildren, Makayla, Trenel, CJ, Lexie, Olivia, Kassie, Lucas. Special thanks are extended to her neighbourhood on Allison Avenue for your friendship, care and love; Shirley considered you to be an extension of her family. Private interment will be held at a later date in Bible Hill Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Shirley’s memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are welcomed as this is a charity that was important to her.
