We are deeply saddened by the sudden, tragic death on Monday December 19, 2016, of a wonderful father, brother, and friend. David was well known to all for his wonderful smile that instantly lit up a room, his wittiness, his storytelling, his generosity, and his gentle loving ways.

Predeceased by his parents Ben and Lillian Collins, and his brothers Bill and Vic. Leaving to mourn his loss is his cherished daughter Julia (Kelsey Puddister), his partner Joan Ozon-Veitch and her extended family, his loving siblings Brendan (Paula), John (Joni), Irene (Ken Downey), Joan (Paul Francis), Pat (Karen), Jerry, Cathy (Geoff Young), Tony (Carmel), Judy (late Bill Collins) and Julia's mom Alison Power (Dion), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, co-workers, and friends.

David was born in Placentia on June 19, 1961. He had a long and distinguished career as a pharmacist with Lawtons chain of pharmacies. He had a deep love of family, music, his Placentia roots, and more recently Bee Keeping and hobby farming. He was a generous, gentle, fun-loving soul who was always willing to be there when anyone was in need.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, on Wednesday, December 21st from 5-9pm and Thursday December 22nd 12 noon-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Outer Cove, NL on Friday December 23rd at 11 am. Inurnment to be in his beloved home town of Placentia at a later date.
