Murdock Clarence Finlayson

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Murdock Clarence Finlayson on Saturday, January 7th, 2017 at the Northside General Hospital. Murdock was born in Sydney Mines on June 2nd, 1938. He was the son of the late John and Violet (Bonnar) Finlayson. Murdock worked at the Sydney Mines Wash Plant and Sydney Wash Plant for 38 years until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Anne (MacLean) Finlayson of 52 years; his son, Danny (Kelly); his granddaughter, Breighanne; his sisters, Dorothy (Wilfred Theriault) and Kay (Vic Gale) of Sydney Mines; his brothers, Jack, Walter (Brenda), Alex (Annette) of Sydney Mines and Russel (Helen) of Ottawa, Ontario. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces; his sister-in-law, Violet Carroll and his brother-in-law, Richard MacLean. Besides his parents, Murdock was predeceased by his granddaughter, Hope Elizabeth; his sisters, Kay, Johnena, Helen, Dianne; his brothers, Danny, Solly, Louis; brothers-in-law, John Lannigan and John Carroll and sister-in-law, Anita Finlayson. At Murdock’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation will be taking place under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home in Sydney Mines.
