MOUNT, Quentin Adams, St. Thomas, ON - The family is saddened to announce the death of Quentin Adams Mount. Quentin passed away peacefully of undetermined but natural causes on December 27, 2016 at his home in St. Thomas. Born April 12, 1968, at Toronto East General Hospital, Quentin was the youngest son of Valerie Young Mount and Frank Mount of Don Mills, ON. Early schooling was at Overlander Elementary in Kamloops, B.C. In the early 1980s he and his mother relocated to St. Thomas where he completed his high school years, graduating from Arthur Voaden Secondary School in 1988. Achieving a Public Relations Certificate at Humber College, Toronto, he gained employment at Lighthouse Festival Theatre, Port Dover. He met Kelly Carter, who also worked at the theatre, and they were married on February 29, 1992; they welcomed their daughter, Chelsea Anne, in September of 1993. The family lived in Kitchener, Heidelburg, and London, ON. Following his divorce, Quentin moved back to St. Thomas, where he was employed with several businesses. He took special pride in was helping with restorative carpentry work on the Canada Southern Railway Station (CASO) and thereafter he worked as custodian for various CASO fundraising functions. Quentin was an avid reader, and also wrote poetry and short stories. He had a fondness for cats, his last two feline companions being Tanner and Talon. Having an interest in drama in high school, he became involved with Elgin Theatre Guild for a time. In later years he created sculptures out of recycled materials; several of his creations are in St. Thomas shops. In July of 2010, Quentin gained recognition for heroic efforts in saving several people from a Talbot Street apartment fire. He is survived by daughter, Chelsea Henderson (fiancé Scott Stranz), Waterloo, ON; mother Valerie Young Mount, Deep Brook, NS; father Frank Mount (Regina), Moncton, NB; siblings: sister Robin (Doug) Knight, Edmonton, AB; brothers Nicholas (Bernadette), Toronto, ON; Brandon, Tampa, Florida; adoptive sister, Kathy (Carman) Anderson, Ottawa, ON; former wife, Kelly Henderson, London, ON; uncle, Duane Young, Smith’s Cove, NS; aunt, Rosemary Mount McLean, Wigston, England. Also survived by nieces, Erin (Adam), Justine, Tegan, nephews, Matthew (Erin), David, Lawson, also several relatives in Canada, USA and UK. Quentin was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Nina Adams Young and Aubrey Young, Nova Scotia, paternal grandparents, Thomas and Mary Brown Mount, Liverpool, England, aunt, Audrey Young Baldwin, St. Thomas, ON, uncles Neil Young (in infancy) Dale Young, Middleton, NS. as well as uncles in UK: Jim, Tony, John and Tom Mount. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, St. Thomas; the body will be cremated. Plans are underway for a remembrance service in March in St.Thomas.
