It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearest mother, Josephine King of Florence, on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bras d’Or on March 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Matthew and Mary (Carbery) Jessome.
Mom was a dedicated and loving wife and mother with many talents and interests which included sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Mom will be forever loved and remembered by her daughters, Dolores, Florence, Patrice (Dennis) Jones, Kempt Head, Alison (Gerard) Tremblett, Florence, Angela (John) Finney, Bras d’Or and sister, Marcella McGrath, Lynn, Mass. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, Holly and Edward; great-grandchildren, Liam and Logan, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Josephine was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband of 58 years, Edward King, as well as by brothers Damus, Patrick and Dacy; sisters, Mary, Theresa, Beatrice, Catherine, Annie and Delores and great-granddaughter, Adrianna Rose.
There will be no visitation or funeral. A private family service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
