RONALD MACISAAC
Passed on: January 26th, 2017
Formerly of Sydney, NS, and recently of Dartmouth, Ron passed away suddenly at home on January 26th, 2017. He was the son of the late David and Theresa (Martinello) MacIsaac and he is survived by his wife, Mary (Gillis); daughters, Jennifer (Les) MacIsaac-Williams, of Hammonds Plains, and Susanne (Emmett) MacIsaac-Leahy, of Dartmouth. In addition, he is also survived by his five grandchildren, Rhodri (11), Jane (9), Macsen (7), Rhian (6), and Marrin (5); his brothers, Arthur (Carol Ann), Ottawa, David (“Buddy”), Sydney Forks, and sister-in-law, Bernice MacIsaac, along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Alex; his sister-in-law, Jenny MacIsaac and his nephew, David.
Ron began his career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where he proudly served until he sustained injuries on the job. He remained a staunch member of the RCMP Veteran’s Association and proudly was awarded his 15 year pin this year. After leaving the Force, he attended St. Francis Xavier University and obtained his Bachelor’s degree. He worked for many years in sales and as an entrepreneur in the Sydney area, but his greatest works of art were his grandchildren who he adored above all others. His favourite time of year was the trip to PEI he took with all of them each summer and he and Mary enjoyed many previous trips to Florida. He was an avid animal lover and in earlier years he could frequently be seen walking his dogs all over Sydney. He also was a big fan of his Italian food and was never happier than when he was having a huge feed of spaghetti sauce. He was a World War II history buff and Ron could challenge anybody at Jeopardy with his knowledge of facts and information. Ron was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was previously a member of St. Anthony Daniel Church, Sydney. He had a great love of life and a wicked sense of fun and humour and he will be very sadly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 31 at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Sydney River and by his request, there will be no visitation. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
