Passed on: January 29th, 2017
Krupa, Lois Marleen (née Devlin)
September 14, 1938 – January 29, 2017
It is with peaceful hearts that the Krupa family announces that Lois, a mother, wife, nurse, sister, grandmother, friend and artist, passed away at age 78 after a full life of love and laughter. Lois lived her final days as she had wished, in her own bed at home and surrounded by family and friends.
Lois grew up in Moose Jaw, where she finished her nursing diploma. After leaving home, she worked as an RN in Edmonton, Calgary and California. In 1964, she married John and, together, they built the home she loved and in which she raised her four children, interrupted only by the adventure of two expat assignments in the Philippines. Lois’ passions were always on display in her home, as she decorated it with her own and her extended family’s art, photos and memorabilia. Lois especially loved being an active grandma, travelling with her family, taking continuing education classes and swimming. She also enjoyed nights out with friends at the casino, especially playing the slots! Lois is survived by John, her husband of 52 years; her children John Jr. (Cindy), Rick (Gayle), Chris (Christine) and Chelsea (Kelsey); her grandchildren Madison, Craig, Tyson, Cameron, Alison, Sienna, Ruby and Brynn; and her siblings Joan (Dwayne), Donna (Joe), Sandra (Bruce) and Doug (Millie), together with 19 nieces and nephews. Charities dear to Lois' heart include the Terry Fox Foundation and the Foothills Academy Foundation. Special thanks to Pastor Gordon Sorensen and to Lois’ many friends who supported her through breast cancer. We will miss Lois greatly but her strong moral compass and her compassion will provide an enduring legacy. We will always remember her soft hands and kind touch, her blue eyes, gorgeous red hair and contagious smile. May you rest peacefully now, Mom, your work is done here. A Celebration of Lois’ Life will be held at 1 to 3 PM on February 11 at the Ellerslie Road Baptist Church 10603 Ellerslie Road SW, Edmonton.
