Rupert Kenney

KENNEY, Rupert James “Buddy” – 80, Centreville, passed away Thursday February 2, 2017, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth. Born May 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Rupert and Annie (Maxwell) Kenney. Buddy joined the army on October 11, 1957. While in the army he was posted many places over Canada, such as New Brunswick and British Columbia, and also Germany. One of his many achievements while enlisted was a promotion to Corporal on September 1, 1966. Buddy greatly enjoyed his time spent in Clyde at his cottage. He was also an avid Blue Jays baseball and Raptors basketball watcher. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and especially loved attending his grandson Brett’s baseball games. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Cox) Kenney; sons, Steve (Pam) Kenney, Ricky (Iris) Kenney; daughters, Tanya (Gary) Kenney, Teri (Mark) Kenney; grandchildren, Brett Nickerson, Stephanie Parkes, Shannon Kenney, Adam Kenney, Melissa Sears, Jeremy Kenney; and 6 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Herbie. There was a visitation held Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service followed on Monday, February 6, at 2 p.m. in the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. A. D. Bill Newell officiating. Family flowers only; in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
