It is with great sadness that the family of the late Vera Millicent Preston announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the age of 80 years. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her husband of 61 years, Gerald; sons: William (Gloria), Jerry and Rodney (Janet); grandchildren: Carolann, Kelly, Renee, Mark, Marty, Glenda, Amanda, Harold Jr., Ashley, Aimee, Kyle, Caitlin, Nicole and Robyn; her great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Violet Preston, Mae Pennell, Gladys (Jim) Fitzgerald, Dorothy Preston and Eileen Whiteway; special niece Catherine; as well as a host of extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her children Harold and Jeffery; brother Harold Whiteway and sister Irene Tobin. In keeping with Vera's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Friday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. from the Salvation Army Temple, Citadel Drive, with Captain Cory Pinksen officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the S.A. Temple Memorial Fund. Special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at WMR Hospital and to the wonderful staff at the Mountain View Retirement Centre.
