Grace W. Young

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Grace W. Young, on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Victoria Haven Guest Home in Glace Bay at the age of 92. Grace was born in Glasgow Scotland on May 21, 1924 and came to Canada as a war bride in 1945. She settled in North Sydney where she raised her family and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Meech and Dr. Kirkpatrick until her retirement. Grace was a devoted member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church in North Sydney and a longtime member of the church choir. She was a member of the I.O.D.E., a charter member and life member of the Munro Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and a proud member of the War Brides of Cape Breton. Grace is survived by her son, Allan (Patricia Levigne) Young, North Bay, ON; her grandson, Bradley Thomas Young; granddaughters, Melanie Ann Young, Michelle Rener and Marnie Esserhoff and her five great grandchildren, Matthew Allan, Kyle, Lauren, Erika and Kendra. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas R. Young and daughter, Ann. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.
