It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfred William Pennell of Frenchman's Cove, announces his passing in peaceful sleep at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, in his 85th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his sister Nonie (David) White; nephews and nieces, Gordon (Treena) Pennell, Tammy Piercey, Bill (Sherry) Pennell, Glenn (Fay) Pennell, Eva (Lawrence) Hynes, Mildred Hackett, Linda (Carl) McHugh, David (Linda) Pennell and Barbara (Edward) Boland, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Lillian and father Wallace, brothers John and Lindburgh, sisters-in-law Elizabeth Pennell (nee Stewart) and Patricia Pennell (nee Vaters); Alan Hackett (husband of niece Mildred Hackett) and his special friend, Rose Barnes. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling street on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. from St. Ambrose Church in John's Beach with Reverend David Taylor officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers will be graciously accepted or donations can be made to St. Ambrose Church in John's Beach.
