Patrick Joseph Walsh

Passed in: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: January 16th, 2017

Pat was an amateur artist, photographer, ultra-light pilot, recreational boater, accomplished sport fisherman and die-hard Canucks fan. Pat was born in Ballater, Scotland in 1942 and moved to St. John's with his parents in 1946. At the age of 17 he left to join the RCAF in Uplands, Ontario. After five years, he moved west to Toronto and then to BC in 1969. He loved the beautiful outdoors of BC, like Newfoundland, but warmer he said, and fishing off Vancouver Island for salmon was his passion. He was married, but when it ended he became a confirmed bachelor. He thought himself a lady's man and loved women who were good dancers. He worshiped his sister Lorraine (deceased), a character in her own right. He taught the children of friends fishing and boating skills, and enjoyed playing together with their toys. He was known to be a quiet guy, he called it being a good listener; but was quick to pass comments or act on things that annoyed him. He was a sheet metal worker for Prince George Pulp and Paper Ltd. from 1970-77 and later for Rogers Sugar in Vancouver until he retired in 2007. Pat passed away at his residence in Burnaby BC at the age of 74 on January 16, 2017. Pre-deceased by his parents Stephen and Catherine (McIntosh) Walsh, and step-brother Douglas. Fondly remembered by his dearest friend Diane Brodie, Langley BC; his younger brother Stephen (Karen), niece Lavinia Snow (Paddy) and other relatives and friends in NL, and in BC. Cremation has taken place in Vancouver, and a private family internment will take place later in St. John's. Donations may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
