Bernadette "Bernee" Perin
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
Another Angel gained her wings on Friday, February 24, 2017. Bernee passed away peacefully at Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, NS, at the age of 84 years with her loving family at her side. Born in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of the late Hughie and Elizabeth Reid. Bernee resided in New Waterford, NS, most of her life and was a member of the Parish of Saint Leonard. She was an outgoing and caring person whom was loved by all who met her. Family always came first to her no matter what. Bernee first worked as a housekeeper at St. Michael’s Glebe House. She then worked at the GI plant in Sydney for several years before retiring from the Woolworth’s lunch counter in New Waterford where many people enjoyed her cooking. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and baking for her family. Reading was also a passion of Bernee’s that she shared with her grandchildren through many visits to the New Waterford Regional Library. She was an avid bowler who was the “President” of her Wednesday night bowling league. For many years, Bernee and her close friends enjoyed each other’s company during their weekly games of scat. Bernee is survived by her husband, Pino Perin (New Waterford); her only daughter, Alanna (Kevin) Gallant (New Waterford); her three sons, Randy Perin (New Waterford), Joe Perin (Calgary) and David (Hectorine) Perin (New Waterford); grandchildren, Tammy (John), Tom (Amanda), Ryan (Natasha), Justine (Teagan) (all of Calgary), Joanna (Greg), Jason (New Waterford); great-grandchildren, Jillian, Cole, Will and Zander (Calgary). She is also survived by brothers, Frank (Mary) Reid (Baddeck) and Joe Reid (Ontario).
Besides her parents, Bernee was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Corina (Crescenzi) Perin, father-in-law, Luigi Perin; daughter-in-law, Caroline (MacEachern) Perin; sisters, Peggy Anthony, Mary MacDonald, Agnes Hines, Ruth MacIsaac, Donna Higgins and brothers, Roddie Reid and Brian Reid. The family of the late Bernadette Perin would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Maple Hill Manor for their compassionate care over the last 16 years. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow at a later date. Bernee’s grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Bernee’s kind spirit, passion and zest for life will live on through them.
Ma: Missing you always, remembering you forever. Until we meet again.
