It is with great sadness, we announce the death of Billy at his home in Waverley, NS, with his family at his side, at the age of 67 years. The death occurred after a 4 year battle with cancer. Husband of Geraldine (nee Milligan) for 46 years. Born in Summerside, PEI on March 10, 1949. Son of Ralph (deceased) and Lottie Gillis, Birch Hill PEI. Father of Karen (Rick Starck), Vancouver Is. and Kevin, Calgary. Grandfather of Jack Gillis, Kacie and Rylan Starck. Brother of Teresa (Roger) DeBaie, Pat (Keith) Winchester, Tom (deceased), Anne (Brian) Knowlton, David (Carol deceased), June (Glen) Ellis and Gail Gillis. Brother-in-law to Sandra Beamish (Wayne Hatch), Joyce Helchie, Brian (Julie) Milligan, Elmer (Phill) Milligan, Robert (Noella) Milligan, Shirley (Bruce) Howard and 33 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by father Ralph, brother Tom, sister-in-law Carol, father and mother-in-law Gerald and Virginia Milligan, brother-in-law Wayne Beamish. Billy went to Nova Scotia in 1967. He worked as an Ironworker for 45 years, where he was well known and respected in the industry. Visiting and reception will be held at St. John United Church, Fall River, NS on Thursday, March 2nd from 3-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, March 3rd at 11 a.m. at St John’s United Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
