ROSS, Maurice Emerson – 83, Stoney Island, passed away on March 17, 2017. He was a son of the late Carol and Bertha (Nickerson) Ross. Maurice loved to go duck hunting. He also was an avid gardener. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn (Smith); sons, Bryden (Thelma), Michael (Chrisandra), Durwood (Trina); daughter, Eleanor (Larry); sisters, Lottie Frances, Evelyn Brannen; brother, George Ross; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Herman, Duncan, Phillip, Forest; sisters, Pearl, Grace, and Cassie. There was a visitation held Wednesday, 7-9 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. The funeral service took place 2 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. Don Scheel officiating. Interment to follow in the Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. Memorial donations may be made to the Atlantic Cemetery.
